Location & Geography

Country: Greece. A unique place that stands out for its unparalleled natural beauty, rich history and cultural heritage. Athens, the capital of Greece, with its timeless monument of the Acropolis, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, Crete, the Ionian Islands, Magnesia and Sporades captivate every visitor. Greece is geographically located at the southernmost tip of Europe. Balkan Peninsula, in the southeast Europe, and in the East Mediterranean. With a total area of 131,957 square kilometers, Greece impresses with a coastline of 13,676 kilometers and about 2,500 islands.

Area: Magnesia. It has an area of 2,636 square kilometers and is located in the southeastern part of Thessaly. It combines mainland Greece with regions such as Volos, Pelion, Zagora and Tsagarada with the islands of the Northern Sporades, Alonnisos, Skiathos and Skopelos.  

Island complex: Northern Sporades. Sporades includes the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos, Skyros and many other islets (Peristera, Kyra Panagia, Psathoura, Skajoura etc.) which are uninhabited for the most part. Administratively, Northern Sporades belongs to the Thessaly Region and consists of the municipalities of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonnisos.

Island: Alonnisos. Alonnisos (Liadromia), belongs to the Sporades group of islands. Its total area is estimated at 64.5 sq km and its coastline is approximately 67 km long. It is separated from Skopelos to the southwest by the Alonnisos Bridge, with a width of 2 nautical miles and to the northeast by the Pelagonisi Island to the Pelagonis Bridge, with a width of 3.5 nautical miles. The particular geography of the destination is evident from the visitor’s ability to explore Alonnisos along with the islets that surround it, creating a unique ecosystem, the Alonnisos and Northern Sporades National Marine Park.
